25th Anniversary Celebration of BAKORS PTFI: More Than Just Sports

Tembagapura, October 19, 2024 – A festive atmosphere filled the Sport Hall at Mile 68 as the Coordination Body for Sports and Arts (BAKORS) of PT Freeport Indonesia (PTFI) celebrated its 25th anniversary. This significant event also marked the inauguration of the new BAKORS board for the 2024-2027 term.
The celebration opened with a lively performance by the YPJ School band, followed by the Karapao Choir singing "Indonesia Raya" and the PTFI March. The entertainment continued with a performance by KOMUSTRA (Tembagapura Music Community) before a parade of 21 sports branches took the stage. 

 
Each sport, ranging from futsal and basketball to airsoft and e-sports, showcased its unique attributes, adding to the event’s vibrant atmosphere.
In his remarks, Akhmad Ulya Hidayat, Vice President of Central Services at PTFI, congratulated BAKORS on 25 years of dedication. He emphasized the importance of BAKORS in promoting both physical and mental health for all PTFI employees, not only through physical sports but also through mental activities like chess and e-sports. 

"We hope BAKORS continues to thrive and hosts more events in both the Highland and Lowland areas of PTFI," he said.


Benget Hutauruk, Chairman of BAKORS for 2024-2027, highlighted the role of sports in fostering connections among employees from diverse backgrounds. 
"When we are physically and mentally fit, our work flows more smoothly. We want BAKORS to remain consistent and united, not only in sports but also in the arts," Benget remarked. 


He also reviewed several activities already organized by BAKORS, including the Torch Parade, Golf Merah Putih, and various sports tournaments. Benget noted that sports like go-karting will be reintroduced, with plans to add more sports branches in the future.

The event was not only a celebration but also an occasion to recognize outstanding athletes and the dedicated BAKORS support team. Grippina Irawati, an airsoft athlete, expressed her hope that BAKORS would continue to grow and serve as a valuable resource for the PTFI community. Meanwhile, Orlando Fonataba, the futsal coordinator, praised BAKORS for helping employees manage stress through sports.

 
The ceremony concluded with the handover of the BAKORS flag to the Chairman, a symbolic rice cone-cutting ceremony, and a group prayer. Participants were also treated to an array of exciting door prizes, adding to the day's enthusiasm.

 
McArthur Hutapea, Vice President of Human Resources at PTFI, emphasized the importance of BAKORS as a means to balance work with positive activities. "We aim for BAKORS to continue sustainably, prioritizing safety and sportsmanship, just as we do in the workplace. We hope that the spirit of teamwork and mutual support continues to grow among us," McArthur stated.

 
With a high spirit of togetherness, the 25th-anniversary celebration of BAKORS successfully brought joy and renewed hope to all PTFI employees, solidifying BAKORS as an integral part of improving the quality of life in the workplace.
