This year PT Freeport Indonesia sent 9 members of EP&R and 1 member of Underground Mine Rescue (UGMR) to take part in the 21st Indonesian Fire & Rescue Challenge (IFRC) at the Garuda Rescue Nusantara (GRN), Balikpapan City, East Kalimantan from October 21 to 29, 2024.

This year's PTFI team has been preparing itself with trainings from May to October. This long period certainly presents its own challenges, especially in maintaining consistency, putting aside personal ego, and practicing relentlessly until there are no gaps during the event.

"One of the biggest challenges is to equalize the perception and mindset of each team member, said Wahid as the instructor of the team that will go to Balikpapan. "However, with solid cooperation and mutual understanding, all these obstacles can be overcome. What makes our team more mature is the cohesiveness, sense of family, and strong togetherness." he continued.

As part of the preparation, PTFI's EP&R team collaborated with Learning & Organizational
Development (L&OD) in developing briefing materials that focus on character building as a Fire & Rescue man who is tough, has high fighting power, and never gives up.

This year's PTFI team will compete against 25 other teams in eight competitions.
; Structural Fire Fighting (SFF); Road Accident Rescue (RAR) Collapsed Structure Search & Rescue (CSSR) High Angle Rescue Technique (HART) Underwater Vehicle Recovery & Rescue Challenge (UVRRC) Firefighter Competency Test (FCT) Confined Space Rescue (CSR) Firefighter Combat Challenge (FCC)

All the preparations conducted by the team were made possible by the support of PTFI Management, including the provision of training equipment, the development of realistic and challenging training simulations, and all other support provided to make the team's training a success before leaving for the competition in Balikpapan.

"This support not only motivates us, but also strengthens our confidence to give our best in the upcoming competition. With passion and solid cooperation, we are ready to face the challenges and achieve victory in this year's event. Thank you, PTFI Management, for this amazing commitment and support!" said Randy Julius, Captain of the team.

Thursday (10/17) the PTFI team  departed from Mozes Kilangin Airport, Timika., "Our hope is that this year, we will reclaim the general champion that we have obtained since several years ago where PTFI has held the IFRC general champion 14 times" said Periyadi as Manager of Safety, Health & Technical Training of PT Freeport Indonesia.

Good luck to the PT Freeport Indonesia team in the IFRC 2024 competition.
