Freeport Supports Indonesian Athletes at the 2024 Paris Olympics

Jakarta, July 11, 2024 - PT Freeport Indonesia (PTFI) also supports the Indonesian contingent which will compete at the 33rd Paris Olympics this year.
"This is the company's commitment to supporting Indonesia's sports achievements. We hope that our support will increase the enthusiasm of athletes competing in the Olympics to achieve the best achievements for Indonesia," said PTFI President Director Tony Wenas while attending the inauguration of the Indonesian Contingent for the 2024 Paris Olympics at Wisma Kemenpora, Jakarta, Wednesday (10/7).
PTFI's support in the form of sponsorship amounting to 300,000 euros is expected to increase the enthusiasm of Indonesian athletes to compete in the Olympics and achieve their best achievements.
The inauguration of the Indonesian Contingent was marked by the handover of the Indonesian National Flag from the Minister of Youth and Sports, Ario Bimo Nandito to the Indonesian Contingent’s Chef de Mission (CdM) Anindya Novyan Bakrie. Followed by the Indonesian Contingent athletes and officials solemnly kissing the Indonesian National Flag one by one.
The Indonesian Contingent Chef de Mission, Anindya Novyan Bakrie, expressed appreciation for PTFI's support for the Indonesian team participating in the 2024 Paris Olympics. "We warmly welcome PT Freeport Indonesia’s full support to the athletes competing in the Paris Olympics. This adds to the motivation to ignite the fighting spirit for the nation and country," he said.
After the inauguration at the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Indonesian contingent was officially sent off by the President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo at the State Palace to the 2024 Paris Olympics. The President urged Indonesian athletes to win medals and enhance Indonesia’s reputation in global stage.
The 2024 Paris Olympics will feature 32 sports and will be attended by 182 countries. The Indonesian contingent is sending 29 athletes, consisting of 16 male athletes and 13 female athletes, accompanied by 20 coaches, 9 officials, and 28 headquarters members, totalling 86 members overall.
The Indonesian contingent participating in the 33rd Olympics will compete in 12 sports: Badminton, Weightlifting, Rock Climbing, Archery, Shooting, Athletics, Swimming, Surfing, Gymnastics, Bicycle Racing, Rowing, and Judo.
