Launch of 2023 BK3N: Think Safe, Work Safe, be Safe

The National Occupational Health and Safety Month officially began in PT Freeport Indonesia by emphasizing to improve safety cultures in the workplace.
The 2023 National Occupational Health and Safety Month (BK3N) official launch was held on January 12 at Rimba Papua Hotel and Tembagapura Main Office Meeting Room 303, all employees, partners companies, contractors, community and other stakeholders across PTFI were encouraged to continue to make health and safety at work a priority.
This year’s campaign puts the spotlight on The Realization of Decent Work Based on Safety Culture in the Workplace.
Chris Zimmer, EVP Technical Services mentions in his opening speech the commemoration of BK3N is a perfect time to reflect on the importance of safety in the workplace.
Through safety, health, and performance improvements, for instance the Fatality Risk Management Program (FRM) PTFI strives to make PTFI's operations safe, healthy, and feasible, Zimmer said.
“Safety is a big commitment. It takes a lot of work, but we all know its importance. Let's commit and work together to face any challenges we may have in 2023.” Zimmer added.

The BK3N Committee breaking fresh ground with their field inspections
Concluding the opening ceremony, the BK3N committee conducted a field inspection to provide a sharing session to discuss how to resolve challenges and difficult topics that employees face in the workplace.
Suharto Sitorus, Manager Warehouse Highland, who chaired this year’s national safety month committee, explained that 2023 BK3N programs will involve management, employees and their families and academicians.
The series of 2023 BK3N events will be an excellent opportunity to remind our employees of the resources available to them when they have safety concerns and to promote safe work and procedures to others, Suharto said.
“I encourage all of us to participate, support and make the PTFI 2023 BK3N successful.” Suharto added.
