25 April 2024

President Director of PT Freeport Indonesia (PTFI) Tony Wenas together with three Chairmen of PTFI Workers' Unions signed the PTFI Collective Work Agreement (PKB) for the 2024-2026 period in Bandung, West Java, Thursday (25/4).

They are the Chairman of the All Indonesian Workers' Union (SPSI) Lukas Saleo, the All Indonesian Workers' Union (SBSI) Makmesser O. Kafiar, and the Independent Papuan Workers' Union (SPMP) Virgo H. Solossa.

"I am also proud, happy and highly appreciative of PT Freeport Indonesia and the negotiating team who have completed this PKB. "I think this can be an example for other companies in building engagement between management and unions," said Minister of Manpower Ida Fauziyah who witnessed the signing together with the ranks of the Mimika Regency and Central Papua Province Manpower Services.

Ida said this momentum was a symbol of the achievement of deliberation with the principle of a win-win solution between employers and workers, in building a harmonious, mutually beneficial and sustainable industrial relations climate.

He also reminded that the agreement that had been reached could be immediately socialized and implemented together as well as possible.

PTFI President Director Tony Wenas appreciated the three unions for successfully completing the verification process and drafting rules and regulations effectively.

He also appreciated the Union & Management Negotiating Team which succeeded in reaching a complete agreement on March 31 2024, after negotiating for 35 days starting on February 26 2024 in Jakarta.

"The 23rd PKB Agreement for 2024-2026 which took effect on April 1 2024 resulted in various positive things such as increasing wages and increasing benefits for employees," said Tony.

Tony said this good agreement would encourage the achievement of common goals. Namely, operations run smoothly, which has an impact on the sustainability of the company's business and the welfare of workers and their families, community, nation and state.

"For PTFI management, the union is not just a partner, but is part of a family that must look after and protect each other. "Together on the journey of the big Freeport Indonesia family," said Tony.

The signing of the 2024-2026 PKB-PHI is the culmination of negotiations which since mid-2023 have begun with the verification stage of trade union membership to ensure diversity in representation and the number of members of the negotiating teams. This was followed by meetings to prepare negotiation rules as a basis for the next negotiation process, which will be intensively carried out in the period February-March 2024 in Jakarta.

In general, the agreed PKB-PHI PTFI 2024-2026 includes work conditions, rights and obligations of both parties, as well as a new scheme of wages and benefits for primary workers.

“We also express our gratitude to the government which continues to provide support. "Since July 2023, representatives of the Ministry of Manpower, Central Papua Province Manpower Service and Mimika Regency have provided material provision to the entire Negotiating Team," said Tony.

Meanwhile, R. Abdullah, General Chair of the SPSI Central Leadership representing the three unions, expressed his appreciation for the commitment of PTFI management to regularly review increases in wages and welfare facilities for its workers.

"Of course this will increase productivity, loyalty and a conducive work atmosphere," he said.
