Timika, October 4, 2024 – Two Health Clinics, which are a collaboration between the Mimika Regency Health Office and PT Freeport Indonesia (PTFI), namely Wangirja Clinic and Utikini Baru Clinic, have achieved accreditation upgrades from the Ministry of Health.
"Freeport Indonesia will continue to support clinic operations by supporting building maintenance, health personnel (nurses), and supporting the fulfillment of medical supplies to ensure they are always available in accordance with the clinic grant agreement to the government in 2021,"said Claus Wamafma, Director & Executive Vice President (EVP) of Sustainable Development & Community Relations at PTFI.
Wangirja Clinic, located in SP 9, now has Intermediate (Madya) accreditation status, and Utikini Baru Clinic, located in SP 12, has achieved Advanced (Utama)accreditation status. Both clinics are in Mimika Regency, not far from PTFI's lowland area. The Head of the Mimika Regency Health Office, Reynold Ubra, appreciated the achievements of both clinics located in Kuala Kencana District and Iwaka District.
"As a result of the Advanced accreditation of the Utikini Baru SP 12 Regional Government Clinic, there will be an improvement in public health services with the presence of a certifiedspecialist doctor according to government standards. Meanwhile, as a result of the accreditation upgrade of the Wangirja SP 9 Regional Government Clinic to Intermediate status, the Health Officewill give special attention by evaluating service improvements in this clinic in all aspects," said Reynold Ubra.
Reynold explained that in the process of achieving accreditation, both clinics have fulfilled the standards for medical equipment facilities and infrastructure, met Human Resource (HR) requirements, prepared work plan programs, and measured quality indicators and patient safety incidents. In addition, this clinic accreditation process was achieved based on the fulfillment of five standards set by the Government, namely regulation, documentation, observation, interviews, and simulation.
"We hope that this Clinic's accreditation status can help change the status of these Clinics to become Community Health Centers (Puskesmas) in the future," concluded Reynold Ubra.
It should be noted that the accreditation process for the two clinics was carried out by two institutions under the coordination of the Ministry of Health. The accreditation process for the Wangirja SP 9 Clinic was conducted by the Indonesian Health Facility Accreditation Institute (LAFKI). Meanwhile, the accreditation process for the Utikini Baru SP 12 Clinic was carried out by the Primary Health Care Accreditation Committee (KAKP).
We hope that both clinics can continue to provide higher quality health services for the surrounding community in accordance with the standards set by the government," said Claus.
