PT Freeport Indonesia and TNI AL Collaborate to Build A Pier

Jakarta - PT Freeport Indonesia (PTFI) and the Indonesian National Army Navy (TNI AL) signed a Collective Agreement for the Construction and Grant of the Timika Naval Base (Lanal) Pier at Selasar Denma Headquarters, Cilangkap, East Jakarta, Wednesday (3/7).

Chief of Naval Staff (Kasal) Admiral TNI Dr. Muhammad Ali and PTFI President Director Tony Wenas witnessed the signing process  by the Head of the Naval Base Facilities Service (Kadisfaslanal) First Admiral TNI Kris Wibowo on behalf of the Indonesian Navy and PTFI Vice President Director Jenpino Ngabdi as PTFI representatives.

This Collective Agreement aims to support the duties and functions of the Indonesian Navy, especially Lanal Timika, as well as optimizing the transportation and storage of PTFI tailings outside Mimika district as approved by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry.

Collective Agreement granted the construction of a pier and base facilities at Lanal Timika covering an area of ± 23,188 m2 which will be implemented by PTFI.

PTFI President Director Tony Wenas said that the construction of the Jetty or port will be able to be used together. TNI Navy to make KRI and PTFI aware as a means of transporting tailings to other regions. 

"Our appreciation to the Indonesian Navy for supporting PTFI both in the Amole Task Force and other Task Forces, of which there are a total of 54 personnel, the Amole Task Force 21 and the Natioal Vital Object Task Force 29. And especially for security at the Amamapare Cargo Dock," he said.
 



Meanwhile, Kasal said that this collaboration is valid for five years, which includes the construction and grant of wharves and infrastructure facilities at Lanal Timika under the ranks of Lantamal XI Merauke. 

"We hope that this pier can maximize PTFI's operational activities in order to optimize the transportation and storage of PTFI tailings in Lanal Timika. In addition, this pier can also be used to support the duties and functions of the Indonesian Navy in maintaining state sovereignty. So that with this cooperation, it is hoped that it can increase good relations between the Indonesian Navy, especially Lanal Timika and PTFI," said Kasal

The construction of the pier by PTFI on the land owned by Lanal Timika is estimated to be completed in two years, after which the pier will be handed over to the Indonesian Navy. Meanwhile, its use will be shared by the Indonesian Navy and PTFI until the Agreement period ends. (Dannu Rahmat)
