PTFI Commitment to Develop Workers Applauded at National Mining Forum

06 December 2021

Thanks to its continuous commitment to advance the mining skills and competencies of its workforce through hands-on training programs, PT Freeport Indonesia was recognized by a government mining agency.

PT Freeport Indonesia recently accepted the two awards from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Human Resources Development Board for its results in producing highly skilled and competent miners through its various in-house training programs. The awards – Dharma Abiwara Utama and Dharma Abisatya Pratama – were presented at the first Indonesian Mining Human Resources Development Forum in Seminyak, Bali, in early December.

The Indonesian Mining Human Resources Development Forum was introduced this year to bring together mining companies operating in Indonesia to showcase programs and share insights about enhancing miners’ skills in Indonesia. Going forward, the event will be held annually and is poised to strengthen the partnership between mining companies and the government as well as add value to the mining industry in Indonesia.

Prahoro Yulijanto Nurtjahya, Head of the Center of Geology, Mineral and Coal Human Resources Development, praised this excellent achievement.

“I’m excited to see more Indonesian miners are well-qualified with the skills needed for the industry. I hope this excellent partnership between the government and Indonesian mining companies will continue to flourish to benefit us all,” Nurtjahya said.

Through its Learning and Organizational Development Department, PTFI regularly provides in-house training to ensure workers have the required skills, competencies and licenses to perform their jobs in the industry. Since 2018, the department has partnered with several Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources agencies to provide training and certification programs recognized nationally. To date, 714 PTFI employees have achieved nationally recognized training and certifications including explosives master training, lifting equipment inspector licensing, electrician training and more.
