PTFI Wins 4 Good Mining Practice Awards from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources

PT Freeport Indonesia (PTFI) succeeded in winning 4 Silver Achievement for implementing Good Mining Practice (GMP) from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM). The award ceremony was held in Jakarta on Wednesday (25/09).
PTFI received four awards, the Main Achievement Award for Technical Management in Mineral and Coal Mining, the Main Achievement Award for Mineral and Coal Conservation Management, The Main Achievement Award for Environmental Management in Mineral Mining and Coal, and The Main Achievement Award for Standardization and Mining Services Management in Mineral and Coal.
Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadalia in his speech revealed that despite the mining sector's role in providing energy and employment, the post-mining activity must be oriented towards community interests.
"Bearing in mind that we have the responsibility towards the environment and our surrounding communities, the post-mining activities are crucial.” Bahlil said.
Eman Widijanto, Vice President Mining Safety Division-PTFI emphasized that the Good Mining Practices are no longer just company's obligations must fulfill to government’s regulations.
“Furthermore, these practices are as a guideline for the sustainability of the company's business so that it is maintained by carrying out operational activities effectively, efficiently, safely and of course in an environmentally friendly manner.” Eman said.
Harry Pancasakti, Vice President Government Relations-PTFI received the 4 Silver Achievement and expressed his gratitude for the appreciation given by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources.
The GMP Award is organized by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources as part of the Mining and Energy Day celebrations, which are commemorated every September 28th.
