17 February 2020
“The 2020 National Occupational Health and Safety Month is a great time for improving our safety efforts and re-focusing on the priority to make a personal commitment to our safety culture.”
Mark Johnson, Chief Operating Officer-PT Freeport Indonesia
The 2020 National Occupational Health and Safety Month launched February 15 in Alun-alun Kuala Kencana with a thank you to employees and a reminder that safety is everyone’s responsibility.
This year’s theme was “Optimizing the Independence of Safety Culture-oriented Communities in the Era of the Industrial Revolution 4.0 based on Information Technology.”
At the opening ceremony, Zulkifli Lambali, PTFI-Technical Mine Manager (KTT), expressed his appreciation to all employees for the 2019 Total Reportable Incident Rate (TRIR) of 0.2.
“To achieve PTFI’s main goal of having zero fatalities, our safety culture is more important than productivity. Fatality Risk Management must be ingrained within each division and every employee,” he said.
Mark Johnson, Chief Operating Officer-PT Freeport Indonesia, called on all employees to be unwavering in their personal commitments to safety during safety month and beyond.
“Safety requires continuous attention, and we need to always focus on it. Safety starts with each and every one of us!” he said.
