Tembagapura's Community Unite in 2024 PTFI Olympics Celebration

In order to strengthen the sense of kinship between employees, the Sports and Arts Coordinating Board (BAKORS) of PT Freeport Indonesia (PTFI) held the 2024 PTFI Olympics in the Highlands on June 1, 2024.
The event was began with a performance by the Tembagapura Dance Crew welcoming the parade from 12 different divisions, each displaying attractions that had been prepared and judged by judges. The atmosphere at the Tembagapura Sporthall became livelier with the zumba dance performance by Tembagapura Ladies Club (TLC).
The 2024 PTFI Olympics Opening Ceremony was simbolized with a video of the olympics torch traveling from the PTFI Jakarta Office until it arrived at the Tembagapura Sporthall. This torch travelled a long distance, to the Kuala Kencana area, Grasberg, Tram station, Mill area at Mile Post 74, Ali Budiardjo Tunnel, Office Building 4 at Mile Post 72, Warehouse at Ridge Camp, Tera Shop, Office Building 3, Mining Safety Division, until arriving at the Main Office Tembagapura. George Banini, Executive Vice President of Operations-PTFI held the torch, along with Tembagapura Runners headed to Tembagapura Soccer Field.
The Olympic torch was welcomed by hundreds employees and communities who had gathered at the Tembagapura Soccer Field where the 2024 PTFI Olympics Opening Ceremony took place.
Carl Tauran, PTFI Technical Mine Manager and EVP Site Operations officially opened the 2024 PTFI Olympics with his encouraging remarks to show sportsmanship in the competition.
“Victory will bring us pride however, establishing a harmonious relationship, not only between team members, but also between divisions, the Freeport family is the most important thing.” Carl said.
Exhibitions for sports such as Airsoft Gun, Archery, Badminton, Tamiya Racing, and Wall Climbing were held at this event, including the first soccer match that took place was between management.
Benget Hutahuruk as the chairman of BAKORS also mentioned that the Olympics is aimed strengthen the sense of kinship between employees and improve the quality of work as well as the quality of life of employees in the Highlands. "Through this event, hopefully everyone in attendance can participate in all exercises and be healthier", he said.
The Volleyball Fun Games between PTFI Management and the Indonesian All-Star artists; Vicky Nitinegoro, Ricky Harun, Maria Selena, Donna Agnesia, Mario Lawalata, and Rico Ceper, entertained all the attendees as well as the supporters.
The excitement of the 2024 PTFI Olympics opening ceremony was not only from the chants of the division supporters cheers, but from lively bazaar stands of the Tembagapura community, and the performances of the Komustra Band, and also Bondan Prakoso & Band.
