The Warmth of Eid-al-Fitr in Jobsite

After carrying out the fasting month of Ramadan to strengthen faith, social care, and love the universe more, Eid al-Fitr is the day that Muslims have been waiting for. Eid al-Fitr marks the end of the fasting period of Ramadan and is also interpreted as a day of victory.
Eid al-Fitr celebrations for two to three days. On the first day of Eid Muslims will perform Eid prayers. At the same time Muslims will congratulate each other on Eid by shaking hands and apologizing to each other. These traditions will vary from country to country.
In many countries with large Muslim populations, Eid al-Fitr will become a national holiday. As in Indonesia, the houses provide a variety of delicious dishes ranging from sweet dishes to traditional Indonesian dishes. Family and friends will visit each other to share happiness and forgive each other for past mistakes.
The same is true in this small mining towns at the foot of the Jayawijaya peak, Tembagapura and Kuala Kencana. Here, Freeport Indonesia Community celebrate Idul Fitri with a takbir around the city and Ied prayers together at the Tembagapura Square and Kuala Kencana town square.
The joy of takbiran night at the Daarussa'adah Mosque, Tembagapura was also enlivened by a drumming competition and the echoes of the participants' takbir.
In the Lowlands, Freeporters who live in the Kuala Kencana area and its surroundings flocked to the Baiturrahim Mosque, Kuala Kencana, to carry out the Eid al-Fitr prayer which was held by YMM PTFI. This year's atmosphere looks different from previous years when the pandemic still covered Indonesia. Muslims from the city of Timika and its surroundings flocked to join the Eid prayer at Kuala Kencana. Meanwhile in the highlands, around 1,500 Muslims from Ridge Camp joined together at the soccer field to perform the Eid prayers at Tembagapura.
Rahman Santalia, Rahman Santalia, VP Operations Maintenance, representing PTFI management in his Eid speech said "We have gone through several significant challenges that have affected production but with solid cooperation from multi divisions, production can run smoothly again".
From a safety standpoint, he invites employees to work together to eliminate incidents and even though many of our colleagues are on leave,we should keep working with focus, productivity, effectiveness, creativity and efficiency and give the best as a Muslim.
After the Eid prayer, PTFI employees, contractors and privatization continued the gathering, halal bihalal to the PTFI management house and their co-workers and friends in Tembagapura, Kuala Kencana and Timika.
The atmosphere throughout the day was colored by the warmth of friendliness among employees who came from various backgrounds but were brought together in this mining town as one family.
President Director Tony Wenas invited the PTFI extended family to strengthen their steps with the spirit of KITA ONE. "Keep up the spirit to continue working to benefit others, society and the country." He also revealed that the company's long journey was not easy without the unity of every employee who became the backbone in facing every operational challenge of the company.
Meanwhile, Richard Adkerson, FCX Chairman of the Board, Chief Executive Officer & PTFI President Commissioner, in his holiday message, said “there are many things we should be grateful for this year. We have successfully transitioned to the world's largest underground mining operation, enabling PTFI to maintain its large-scale production at an efficient cost level.”
With the mutual respect that has been built throughout the years between Freeport, the Indonesian government and local communities have laid a strong foundation for the future. I am proud that we are all working together for the benefit of all stakeholders, he continued.
