Employees Celebrate Official Opening of Plaza Agawaa Ogom Superblock

27 August 2018

Employees living in Ridge Camp could well have been the proudest residents in Jobsite during the company’s official opening of the Plaza Agawaa Ogom Superblock held during Employee Engagement Day on Saturday, 25 August.

The five-story building is now officially and fully open after gradually adding amenities as they became ready. First opened was the first-floor employee dining hall, then the sports hall (a futsal court and a badminton court) on the fifth floor, a gym on the fourth floor, and finally an entertainment center with a movie theater, karaoke rooms, a music studio, and a restaurant on the third floor.

“This building is proof of the company’s commitment to provide the best quality of life for employees, in particular those residing in Ridge Camp,” said Zulkifli Lambali, Executive Vice President-Site Operations and Technical Mine Manager at the grand opening. “By providing this well-equipped facility, we hope after a hard day’s work, employees will be able to relax and socialize and thus restore and replenish their energy.”

The entertainment center on the third floor of Plaza Agawaa Ogom could well be the highlight of all the  amenities in the Superblock. This is where people can enjoy entertainment facilities found only in Ridge Camp: a movie theater and karaoke rooms. Using these amenities is as simple as going to the Plaza Agawaa Ogom and registering with the officer in charge or making an online booking through the PTFI website.

Now the Plaza Agawaa Ogom is officially open for business, it’s up to everyone who uses it to keep it in good working order.

“Let us together make good use of this facility and take good care to maintain its cleanliness and quality so that it will continue to positively impact management of employees’ quality of life in Jobsite,” Zulkifli said.

The official opening was only one of many activities held during Employee Engagement Day – an event designed to show the company’s appreciation of the excellent performance by employees throughout 2018.

Employees were wowed with entertainment that included a band performance, a karaoke contest, a mass Zumba session, a coaching clinic for badminton and billiards, and other exciting activities. Employees also were treated to a free, special sampling of Papuan coffee prepared by a barista, and Japanese sushi and udon. Employees eagerly lined up in an orderly manner for these treats.  (Sularso)
