Freeport Distributes Football Shoes to Clubs Around the Gresik Smelter

Gresik – PT Freeport Indonesia (PTFI) in collaboration with the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) distributed football shoes to five clubs or Football Schools (SSB) in Manyar District and Bungah District, Gresik Regency, East Java.

"The distribution of these shoes is a form of PTFI's commitment to working with PSSI to support the progress of football in Indonesia, especially for children in our operational areas in Papua and Gresik," said PTFI Vice President Corporate Communication, Katri Krisnati.

A total of five SSBs are located at the operational location of the PTFI Smelter in Gresik, namely four SSBs in Manyar District, including SSB Gresik Generasi, SSB POAS Muda, Persim Manyar, SSB Peganden, while in Bungah District it is SSB Mengare. Symbolic handover of football shoes by PSSI Representatives, namely the PSSI Gresik Regency Association, to administrators and players, at their respective SSB locations, Wednesday (3/7).

Katri hopes that through the distribution of free soccer shoes, children will become more motivated and enthusiastic about playing soccer better. "Hopefully this step can ignite the enthusiasm of children to make achievements in the future and make the people of Gresik, East Java and Indonesia proud," said Katri.

PTFI continues to be committed to supporting the progress of Indonesian football through various steps including supporting the Indonesian National Team, the Persipura Jayapura club, PSBS Biak, establishing the Papua Football Academy (PFA) football academy for Papuan children, and collaborating with PSSI to hold the Freeport Grassroot Tournament in Papua and Gresik which was designed with the FIFA Grassroots Tournament guidelines.

"We believe that with multi-party commitment and synergy, Indonesian football can continue to develop and achieve even more brilliant achievements in the future," said Katri.
