Bringing Mining Closer to Young Minds through Creative Learning
On October 7, 2025, PT Freeport Indonesia proudly took part in an educational initiative as part of the Mineral and CoalConvention & Exhibition 2025 (Minerba Convex 2025). A total of 50 kindergarten students from Yayasan Pendidikan Jayawijaya (YPJ) took part in a bag coloring activity featuring mining-themed illustrations. The children received activity kits containing a set of crayons and reusable canvas bags. Guided by their teachers, the children enthusiastically and joyfully colored their bags while learning about the importance of minerals and sustainable resource management.
One of the most fun side event is the “Mewarnai Tas Kain” (Coloring Canvas Bags) activity, designed for kindergarten students. In YPJ Kuala Kencana Kindergarten school, this initiative was held across three classrooms, engaging approximately 50 enthusiastic young learners. Each child received an activity kit containing a crayon set and a reusable canvas bag printed with mining-themed illustrations. Guided by their teacher, the children joyfully colored their bags while learning about the importance of minerals and sustainable resource management.
This activity was more than just a fun coloring session—it served as a meaningful early introduction to the world of mining. Through visual and creative approaches, the children began to understand how natural resources contribute to human progress and how responsible mining practices can bring long-term benefits to society.
The event was part of Minerba Convex, organized by the Directorate General of Mineral and Coal -- Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, in collaboration with various mining associations and TAMBANG Magazine, under the theme: "Driving Sustainable Growth through Innovation and Collaboration."
The success of this activity was made possible through the close collaboration between MIND ID, PT Freeport Indonesia's Community Affairs Division, and Yayasan Pendidikan Jayawijaya. Together, they coordinated the distribution of kits, delivered educational materials, and ensured the smooth execution of the event.
Through small steps like these, we contribute to building a more aware and inspired future--strengthening the company's commitment to supporting future generations by combining education and sustainability.
