Bringing the Spirit of Victory and Hope through Easter 2025 in the Lowlands

28 April 2025

Timika, April 28, 2025 - Victory and hope are values that are always remembered in commemorating Easter Day. This year, PT Freeport Indonesia (PTFI) organized a series of activities in which the Lowland community including five church denominations, employees, employees' families, and residents of Kuala Kencana and the surrounding areas participated with great joy and enthusiasm, coloring the month of April with the warmth of togetherness.

This year’s Easter celebration journey began with a social service activity on the Otakwa Coast on April 5, 2025. This activity was attended by 20 representatives from the Easter Committee along with the local community. The Lowland Community donated clothes, shoes, stationery, and toys to 200 residents of the Otakwa Coast. A warm and intimate atmosphere was felt throughout the event, with the community's enthusiasm bringing new hope to everyone present.

The spirit of sharing continued through Blood Donation drives held at two locations: the Kuala Kencana Atrium and Mile Post (MP) 38. On April 12, 2025, the blood donation at Kuala Kencana successfully collected 87 bags of blood from 87 participants, followed by a similar activity at MP38 on April 20, 2025, which collected 59 bags of blood from 61 participants. The extraordinary participation of employees was a tangible expression of solidarity and concern for others.

As Good Friday approached, on April 18, 2025, the entire Lowland community took part in the Stations of the Cross, retracing the sacrificial journey of Jesus Christ. The route started from the RWA Terminal and ended at Kuala Kencana Square, accompanied by a dramatic performance depicting Jesus’ journey to the cross, making it a profound moment of reflection for all participants.

The spirit of Easter was felt even more deeply on the early morning of April 20, 2025, with a meaningful torchlight parade. Accompanied by echoes of praise, the rows of lit torches symbolized victory over darkness. The parade was followed by the Easter Dawn Service at Memorial Park, Kuala Kencana, celebrating Christ’s resurrection in an atmosphere filled with gratitude and renewed hope.

As the culmination of the entire series, an Easter Praise Night was held on April 26, 2025, at the Multi-Purpose Building, Kuala Kencana, along with a Children's Ecumenical Easter Celebration at Bethlehem Church, Kuala Kencana. The event was attended by approximately 500 participants, including members of the Lowland community and the management of PT Freeport Indonesia. The joyful atmosphere was heightened by the presence of guest performers Maria Simorangkir, Trio Yamabi, and KOF Ministry, who brought praise and spiritual reflection, along with a sermon delivered by Rev. Philip F. Ramond, S.S., M.Th.

"With the theme ‘Peace Amid the Family,’ may the peace and joy of Christ Jesus surround us all," added Ferryhil Sitepu, Committee Leader of Lowlands Easter 2025.

"Thank you to the PTFI Management, Pastors, Servants of God from the five church denominations, congregations, committees, and all guests present today for their support, allowing this year’s Easter celebration to run smoothly from start to finish," expressed Ricky Komul, Lowlands BAMAG Chairman.

Clementino Lamury, EVP Human Resources representing the Management of PT Freeport Indonesia, expressed his gratitude to be able to attend the Easter event that had been held in the Lowlands.

"On behalf of the management, we would like to thank the Easter series that has been carried out, starting from the Social Service action to the peak of the Praise Night event tonight, which has run safely and smoothly," he said.

Through this series of activities, PT Freeport Indonesia hopes that the spirit of Easter—the spirit of love, sacrifice, and hope—will continue to live on in the daily lives of all members of the PT Freeport Indonesia community. It is this spirit that is expected to foster a harmonious and caring work environment, and to inspire steps toward a better future.

The togetherness fostered that night served as the perfect conclusion to this year's series of Easter activities, strengthening relationships among employees and inspiring a renewed spirit to move forward.
