Timika, November 14, 2025 – Coinciding with Health Day on November 12, 2025, PT Freeport Indonesia (PTFI) handed over an independent kitchen facility and two oxygen concentrators to the Waa Banti Hospital in the highlands of Tembagapura District, Mimika Regency, Central Papua Province, to strengthen services in three villages: Banti, Tsinga, and Arwanop.

The symbolic handover of the facilities to Waa Banti Hospital was delivered by PTFI Community Health Development (CHD) Manager Daniel Perwira and received by Waa Banti Hospital Director Dr. Anita Sanjaya. The event was witnessed by PTFI representatives and hospital healthcare workers. To support the independent public kitchen, PTFI donated kitchen equipment including an electric stove, oven, steamer, and personal protective equipment (PPE). PTFI, in collaboration with PT Pangan Sari Utama (PSU), facilitated training for 10 kitchen workers at Waa Banti Hospital in operating the equipment. Additionally, the kitchen workers at Waa Banti Hospital will learn nutritious cooking techniques to equip them with knowledge and standards for serving food to patients.

In 2022, Freeport donated an ambulance as part of the reconstruction of Waa Banti Hospital. Then, in November 2023, PTFI handed over an operational vehicle to support hospital services.

The Director of Waa Banti Hospital, Dr. Anita Sanjaya, expressed her appreciation for the collaboration between PTFI and the Mimika Regency Health Office, which was established through the 2025 Amendment to the Waa Banti Hospital Cooperation Agreement (PKS), which was agreed upon at the end of 2024. Through this agreement, the hospital's healthcare services and facilities continue to be strengthened.

She stated that essential healthcare services and facilities are available in the Mimika highlands. With the availability of an independent kitchen at Waa Banti Hospital is expected to meet the nutritional needs of patients, which were previously supplied by the PTFI employee kitchen in Tembagapura. "We are optimistic that the hospital's operations will continue to run independently and sustainably," she said.

Anita added that oxygen concentrator equipment is also crucial. "With this facility, we can independently and sustainably meet the oxygen supply for patients without relying on the distribution of oxygen cylinders, which is sometimes hampered by limited stock," said Dr. Anita.Waa Banti Hospital provides curative healthcare services, including outpatient and inpatient care, supported by healthcare workers from the Community Health Center (Puskesmas) stationed at the Banti Post. Over 82 staff members focus on providing services in general clinics, pharmacy, maternity and child health, and emergency services. The hospital officially opened on September 15, 2023. To date, Waa Banti Hospital has served over 22,580 patients and serves as a healthcare center for residents living in three villages in the Mimika highlands.
