Freeport Indonesia Supports Rescue Operations for Victims of Al- Khoziny School Collapse in Siduarjo
Sidoarjo, October 3, 2025 - PT Freeport Indonesia (PTFI) deployed an emergency response team to support rescue operations for victims of the collapsed building at Al-Khoziny Islamic Boarding School, Buduran, Sidoarjo, East Java, on Monday (9/29).
"We express our deepest condolences and solidarity to the victims and their families. The presence of the PTFI team in this rescue effort is to support the government and community in this emergency, as well as our care and unity in this humanitarian mission," said PTFI Deputy Chief of Mining Engineering Sony Suryanto.
PTFI, he continued, deployed a team with a total of 10 trained personnel. This team is equipped with various technical equipment, such as combi tools, lifting bags, circular saws, respirators, SCBA self-contained breathing apparatus, and extrication tools to support operations in hazardous terrain.
As part of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Disaster Response, PTFI works collaboratively with more than 1,300 personnel from 65 agencies, including the National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas), the Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD), the Indonesian Military, the National Police, and various organizations. Operations are conducted in shifts every four hours to maintain personnel stamina.
"PTFI will continue to monitor the situation, coordinate with Basarnas and related agencies, and is ready to provide further support as needed," he said.
