Harmony in Holidays: 2023 PTFI Christmas Worship & Celebration in Kuala Kencana

The spirit of Christmas came alive in Kuala Kencana, as the community embraced the festive season through a series of heartwarming events leading up to the grand culmination – the 2023 PTFI Christmas Worship and Celebration, themed "We Are One in Peace."

Before the main event, the community engaged in various activities, reflecting the true essence of the season. Blood donation drives, a coloring contest for children, and Christmas caroling brought joy to the HOPE housing community and also Portsite area, fostering a sense of togetherness.

The celebration unfolded at the Multipurpose building on December 2. The theme "We Are One in Peace" resonated throughout, symbolizing unity and harmony among the diverse community.

The event featured three performances that captivated the audience's hearts. Soloist Grace Weiya sang "Have yourself a Merry Little Christmas," while Liora Manurung, accompanied by a violinist,  performed “Mary, Did You Know,” and the Oikumene Community Choir serenaded the crowd with a favorite classic “The First Noel." Their performances set the tone for an evening filled with musical enchantment.

Another guest star, Dewi Guna, mesmerized the audience with a soul-stirring rendition of various Christmas songs. The Papuan group band, Papuakustik, brought a unique cultural perspective to the celebration and was joined by students from the Taruna Papua Dormitory school whoshowcased their talents through a dance performance..

Despite a thunderstorm causing a temporary blackout, the Christmas spirit remained unwavering. The resilience of the community shone through as attendees continued to embrace the festive atmosphere with battery lit candles and spontaneous caroling, turning an unexpected challenge into a memorable part of the celebration.

At the event, a special guest, prominent Indonesian women figure Susi Pudjiastuti, expressed her appreciation for the harmonious coexistence of the townsite with nature. She remarked, "In the midst of nature, this townsite has created a haven of harmony, where people from diverse backgrounds unite."

The distinguished guest of honor's words resonated with the 300 employees and their families in attendance, including the President Director and his wife. The PTFI management representatives were also present to witness the joyous occasion.

Tony Wenas, PTFI President Director, addressed the gathering, acknowledging the achievements of the company in 2023. He shared, "Our construction progress has reached an impressive 83 percent on the PTFI Smelter in Manyar, Gresik. I extend my heartfelt appreciation to each employee for the unwavering dedication in supporting our company and to achieve our 2023 target." 

In conclusion, the 2023 PTFI Christmas Worship and Celebration was a testament to the unity, resilience and festive spirit of a community coming together to celebrate the holidays in perfect harmony.
