Synergy between PTFI and JAM DATUN for Compliant and Sustainable Operations
PT Freeport Indonesia (PTFI) received a working visit from the Deputy Attorney General for Civil and State Administrative Law (JAM DATUN) to PTFI's operational area. The visit, held from April 19-21, 2026, was part of an effort to strengthen coordination and synergy between the Attorney General's Office of the Republic of Indonesia and PTFI, a National Vital Object (obvitnas).
During the visit, Prof. (HC) Dr. R. Narendra Jatna, as JAM DATUN, held a sharing session on the implementation of the new Criminal Code (KUHP) and Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP) and their relationship to Good Mining Corporate Governance. Also in attendance was Claus Wamafma, Director & EVP of Sustainable Development PTFI. This interactive dialogue provided additional insights for PTFI management and employees regarding legal understanding, risk mitigation, and regulatory implications for the company's operations.
"This visit and sharing session with JAM DATUN has enriched our understanding of the latest and evolving regulations and legal aspects. This visit is an important momentum for PTFI to continue collaborating with the government in building a law-abiding, transparent, and sustainable mining industry." said Adicondro Nugroho, VP Legal & Compliance PTFI.
JAM DATUN also had the opportunity to visit several of PTFI's Social Investment programs in Timika. Through this visit, JAM DATUN was able to directly observe PTFI's contributions to socio-cultural development, health, education, and the economy. This demonstrates PTFI's commitment and support for the welfare of the local communities surrounding its operational areas.
"This is extraordinary. A school and boarding school with complete facilities like this prepare Papuan children not only to compete in Indonesia but also globally. So, this is a good start for a good cause," said Prof. (HC) Dr. R. Narendra Jatna during a visit to the Papuan Taruna Boarding School (SATP).
Through this visit, PTFI reaffirmed its commitment to continue complying with all applicable legal provisions and strengthening cooperation with the government. This positive collaboration is expected to support the creation of real added value for companies, the country, and society in a sustainable manner.
