Gresik, June 23, 2025 - In an effort to improve health protection for employees and their families, PT Freeport Indonesia (PTFI) is implementing a dengue fever (DHF) vaccination program in the smelter area. This program, which has been running since February 17, 2025, is still ongoing and is a preventative measure by the company to raise awareness of the potential spread of dengue fever.

"This dengue fever (DHF) vaccination program is the company's commitment to assisting the government and community in controlling the dengue outbreak in our operational area in Gresik. This program is a preventive effort that provides long-term protection against dengue infection and provides additional protection in addition to vector control efforts such as fogging and 3M plus that have been implemented by the government and community. In this program, PTFI distributed 1000 doses targeting employees, contractors and their families. Let's protect the health of all of us, our families and our environment," said PTFI Human Resources and Business Services Manager, Sudarmono.

Vaccinations for employees and contractors began on February 17, 2025, and are ongoing at the Smelter Clinic. Vaccinations for employees' families were administered on March 1, 2025, March 22, 2025, May 31, 2025, and June 21, 2025, at the Aston Hotel in Gresik and the Java Paragon Hotel in Surabaya. As of June 3, 2025, the vaccination program had reached 578 participants (employees, contractors, and their families) with the first dose and 178 participants (employees and contractors).

All vaccinations were carried out by a medical team from the PTFI Clinic. Meanwhile, family vaccinations involved doctors and nurses from International SOS. All participants underwent a health screening (age and medical conditions that could potentially contraindications to the vaccine), injection, and post-vaccination observation.

Currently, efforts are focused on ensuring 1,000 individuals receive two complete doses of the Qdenga vaccine within a three-month period, providing long-term protection against dengue fever. Therefore, PTFI Management urges all employees, contractors, and families who have not yet received the vaccine to register immediately through the PTFI Clinic. Active participation by all stakeholders is crucial to prevent transmission and maintain a healthy work environment. (Ash Shafa)
