Richard Adkerson Meets Indonesia President Joko Widodo in Washington DC

Richard Adkerson, Chairman of The Board & CEO Freeport McMoRan welcomed by Joko Widodo, Indonesia President at Hotel Waldorf Astoria, Washington DC, USA on Monday (13/11).

During the meeting, President Jokowi welcomed discussions reaching the final stages on increasing shares in Freeport in Indonesia to extending the company’s mining operation permit.

Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment ad interim, Erick Thohir was present at the meeting also expressed his appreciation to PTFI.

Erick disclosed that Freeport is committed to continuously increase of production and create job opportunities.

PTFI is currently working on the second copper smelter project that is under construction in the Java Integrated Industrial and Port Estate (JIIPE), Manyar, Gresik, East Java. As of the end of October, the progress of this project has reached 80%.

PTFI has invested up to US$ 2.9 billion or approximately IDR 43 trillion as of the end of October 2023, from a total budget of US$ 3 billion.
