The Nemangkawi Mining Institute Earns Certificate of Accreditation from The Ministry EMR

The Nemangkawi Mining Institute (NMI) PT Freeport Indonesia earns Certificate of Accreditation “B” as Education and Training Institution for Welding, Electricity, Heavy Equipment Operators, as well as Certificate of Accreditation “C” for Heavy Equipment Mechanic from Accreditation Commission of Education and Training Institutions in the Energy and Mineral Resources Sector (KA-LDP ESDM).
The EMR Ministry appreciated the NMI continues commitment in advancing the quality of human resources especially in Papua. "We appreciate what NMI has been committed as well as its contribution in advancing the quality of human resources in the EMR Sector,” said Prahoro Nurtjahyo, Head of KA-LDP ESDM.
Senior Vice President Community Development PT Freeport Indonesia (PTFI) Nathan Kum said, The Certificate of Accreditation from KA-LDP ESDM is an acknowledgement of the NMI’s efforts in providing a good-quality training. “By receiving this accreditation, it reflects that NMI under management of PTFI can provide competent, quality and credible training results,” said Nathan.
By receiving the accreditation from Accreditation Commission of Education and Training Institutions in the Energy and Mineral Resources Sector (KA-LDP ESDM), NMI has formally completed the requirements in order to conduct the vocational education and training center.
The NMI underwent a rigorous audit process to earns the Certificate of Accreditation. The assessment includes institutional aspects, educational and training equipment, teaching staff and infrastructure.
NMI is a Vocational Training Center owned and managed by PTFI that gives vocational education and training in mining industry. As part of the companies’ social investment commitment, NMI aimed to improve the knowledge and skills of indigenous Papuan human resources to create a ready-to-work and competent workers.
General Superintendent Institut Pertambangan Nemangkawi Suzan Kambuaya revealed that, in this year, NMI focused on 6 vocational fields, namely Heavy Equipment Mechanic, Factory Machine Mechanic, Electricity, Heavy Equipment Operator, Miner, and Welder.
“The vocational education and training in NMI is aimed to provide opportunities for native Papuans to have expertise and work skills. In addition, it is good for them to have positive behavior and support them in the competition of the world of work and in their everyday life in the future," said Suzan.
