We are One: Celebrating Our Unity on Freeport Indonesia's 56th Anniversary

In the spirit of unity in diversity, PT Freeport Indonesia celebrated its 56th anniversary that coincide with Easter Weekend and Ramadan month.
“We are one” was the theme for this year’s anniversary that commenced with Good Friday service & Iftar the celebration at the Deep Mill Level Zone (DMLZ) Underground Mine at 1,760 meters from surface on Friday, April 7, 2023.
PT Freeport Indonesia is proud to celebrate the 56th anniversary of our journey, which has significantly contributed to the nation and state since 1967.
President Director of PT Freeport Indonesia, Tony Wenas, who attended the event stated that this moment is worthy of a celebration together.
“It’s not a coincidence that PTFI’s 56th anniversary coincides with Good Friday and in the holy month of Ramadan that we commemorate together. In this moment we can worship separately at the same time, it shows that we are one,” Tony said.
The Iftar took place in the Baabul Munawar mosque and Good Friday Service took place in the Soteria church, located side by side at the DMLZ Underground Mine.
The event, broke the MURI record (Museum of World Records Indonesia) for holding Good Friday Service and Iftar at 1.760 meter underground.
The celebration was followed by Saman Dance and Marawis performances by Freeport Indonesia’s Muslim Community at Tembagapura Sporthall on Saturday, April 8, 2023. The event was closed by iftar and a music concert by GIGI band.
Tony voiced his appreciation of the achievement made in 2022 was earned through the hard work of all employees, He asserted no one dominated over the others in achieving PTFI’s positive performance in the past year.
“Just like how every part of a body is interconnected and plays its own unique role, each individual in an organization should be valued and respected for their specific contributions that leads to success,” Tony said.
“No function was more dominant among all. All worked together, and this was the result,” he added.
The series of anniversary events was closed by Eucunomical Easter Service, Sunday, April 9, 2023 in Tembagapura.
