2021 Wildlife Habitat Council Calendar Showcases Employee Photos

07 January 2021

Despite the cancellation of the company’s Wildlife Habitat Council photography competition this year, two employee photos from past contests still will grace the organization’s 2021 calendar.

The pandemic may have forced the cancellation of the company’s annual Wildlife Habitat Council photo contest, but thanks to the numerous photos from nine years of past competitions, it won’t cancel the company’s appearance in the Wildlife Habitat Council’s 2021 Weekly Engagement Calendar.

Two employee photos will be featured – a bobcat from Miami, Ariz., and Puna Flamingos from Chile – after the Freeport-McMoRan Biodiversity Task Force voted and picked the two from more than 90 finalist photos from nine years of the competition.

The winners are Bobcat, taken in 2011 by former Miami operations employee Mike Estes and Biodiversity and Life on the Salar de Ascotán, taken in 2019 by Felipe Morales Metzer from El Abra operations.

The calendar highlights efforts by WHC members, such as Freeport-McMoRan, to enhance and conserve wildlife habitat on and adjacent to corporate lands. Over the years, thousands of photos have been submitted to the competition by company employees from operations around the world. Photos from PT Freeport Indonesia were winners in 2012 and 2013 and were finalists every year.
