Freeport and Labor Union Officially Seal 2026–2028 CLA
Jakarta, April 10, 2026 – President Director of PT Freeport Indonesia (PTFI) Tony Wenas, along with the three Chairmen of PTFI Workers/Labor Unions, signed the 24th Collective Labor Agreement (CLA) of PTFI for the 2026–2028 period, in Jakarta, Friday (4/10). The three Chairmen of the Workers/Labor Unions are the Chairman of the All Indonesian Workers Union (SPSI) Yudha Noya, the All Indonesian Labor Union (SBSI) Makmesser Kafiar, and the Independent Papua Workers Union (SPMP) Virgo Solossa.
The Minister of Manpower of the Republic of Indonesia, Yassierli, was also present to witness the signing ceremony of the CLA and conveyed his congratulations to all employees and the negotiation team. He hopes that the agreed CLA can become a solid foundation in building a harmonious, productive, and sustainable industrial relationship.
“This Collective Labor Agreement becomes an important momentum for the two main components of the company, namely management and the labor/workers' union as the representative of the workers, to synergize and collaborate in building a joint agenda. This is becoming increasingly relevant considering the upcoming challenges that will not be easy to face,” said Yassierli.
He conveyed that the Ministry of Manpower has a high level of attention to the process from formulation to the signing of the CLA. The Ministry also monitors this process through industrial relations mediators who are ready to step in if there are obstacles in the negotiations.
The Minister also expressed his gratitude and prayers to PTFI, the workers, and the people of Papua. “We are grateful that the CLA has been signed, I pray for the progress of PT Freeport Indonesia, the welfare of the workers, and the people of Papua,” he said.
Meanwhile, Tony Wenas, in his speech, expressed appreciation to the three labor/unions that had completed the verification process, drafting of regulations, and successfully reached a full agreement after a negotiation process that lasted 18 days since it began on February 23, 2026. “The Collective Labor Agreement (PKB) that we are signing now is the 24th, so we have had PKBs for 48 years, perhaps one of the longest in Indonesia,” said Tony.
He explained the key points that have been agreed upon, including wage increases and the enhancement of several allowances, such as accommodation allowances outside company facilities, underground mining worker allowances, school education allowances, as well as retirement and other allowances, with the main commitment being to continue prioritizing work safety.
(Corporate Communications)
