FMX Banti as an Alternative Shopping for The Local Community

Tembagapura, PT Freeport Indonesia (PTFI) oficially inaugurated a new convenience store, Foodmart Express Banti, for the local community, especially the Banti Village Community. The inauguration was attended by the Head of District, SRM Management, Deputy Police Chief, MMR Facilities, and Community Relations/Social Responsibility on Thursday (04/07/2024). The inaguration of FMX Banti demonstrates the strong commitment between PTFI and the community in Tembagapura.
FMX Banti Supermarket was established with the aim of providing a safe and comfortable shopping place to fulfill the community’s needs. Furthermore, its presence is expected to develop the economy of Banti.
The District Head of Banti expresses gratitude for PT Freeport Indonesia's initiative in assisting the community around Tembagapura “Thank you to Primo and CLO for your concern towards the Banti community. The presence of this supermarket can help the local community in 3 areas (Banti, Tsinga, Aroanop) to provide for their daily and ceremonial needs,” he stated
The preparation to build this supermarket has been started since January 2024, involving communication between the Community Affairs team, CLO, Primo, Facility Management, and other parties. After all parties have discussed and agreed, the renovation process was carried out by transforming the building that was previously used as QRF security into the Foodmart Express Banti supermarket The planning to inauguration process took a relatively short time, approximately 3 months of work.
The entire team has worked hard for the preparation of FMX Banti. The products marketed at FMX Banti are comprehensive, including instant food, vegetables and fruits, frozen food, household appliances, and other household necessities. Salasi, MMR Facilities, said “Currently, there are 9803 items that we sell. In the future, we will adjust the number of products according to consumer needs,”
FMX Banti operates from Monday until Saturday, starting at 7am and closing at 5pm.
Despite the transition of the QRF security building to FMX Banti, PTFI is consistent in upholding security in Tembagapura area. “With the opening of FMX Banti, security at the post will be continue as usual,” stated Ilyas, Deputy Chief of Police in Tembagapura. This commitment is further amplified by Spanus Jamang, the Security and Risk Manager, who emphasized the cooperation between security and the Mobile Brigade (Brimob) around FMX Banti.
“PTFI keeps its commitment to giving benefits to the local community, exemplified by its efforts to foster closer ties with local community,” Emphasized Mathius Badi as the manager of CLO.
