Freeport Brought the Micro Small Medium Enterprises to “Indonesian Culinary Exploration”

PT Freeport Indonesia brought two Micro Small Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Maria Bintang Laut Cooperative and Amungme Coffee House to participate in the “Jelajah Kuliner Indonesia 2024” the exhibition organized by the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises at the Sarinah Thamrin Shopping Center, Central Jakarta, September 6-8, 2024.
“This is Freeport Indonesia’s effort in order to broaden our fostered MSMEs for its marketing, promotion and collaboration, while also inviting people to taste various Papuan culinary especially our mainstay, Amungme Coffee” said Vice President Director PT Freeport Indonesia Jenpino Ngabdi after the opening ceremony of the Indonesian Culinary Exploration MSMEs Bazaar.
Jenpino said, Freeport is continuously strive for encouraging Indonesia’s economic growth, support promotions and increase sales of MSMEs products. In recent years, PTFI has been actively involved in community empowerment initiatives through coaching, training, and community empowerment in Papua.
“Freeport Indonesia believes that empowering MSMEs is the key to creating sustainable economy and this also reflects the company’s commitment to social responsibility especially in supporting local economic development,” Jenpino said.
Director & EVP Sustainable Development and Community Relations PTFI Claus Wamafma said that throughout 2019-2024 fostering MSMEs program has reached 234 Papua MSMEs with 1,798 employments. With the total of revolving fund for this program is IDR 72.5 billion with revenue of IDR 1.5 trillion.
For the fostering and coaching community’s economy based on fishery and plantation commodities, MSMEs cooperative has involved 1,200 participants with the total revenue is more than IDR 86 billion.
“Through the participation on the MSMEs bazaar, Freeport hopes can force entrepreneurial spirit and strengthen the local product competitiveness in the global market in Timika and in National,” Claus said.
MSMEs bazaar named Jelajah Kuliner Indonesia 2024 held on September 6-8 located in indoor and outdoor areas in Sarinah. This event supported by 4 State Owned Enterprises namely, Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI), Garuda Indonesia, Jamkrindo, and Freeport Indonesia, participated a hundred MSMEs. There were Sinjay Duck from Madura, Javanese salad with peanut sauce Madiun Yu Gembrot from Madiun, as well as culinary specialties from Eastern Indonesia, such as papeda (congee made from sago starch), Meat floss bread rolls and other interesting menus.
From Papua, Maria Bintang Laut Cooperative presents the sensation of Papuan specialties including Nastar Sago, Fish Floss, Salted Fish Sambal, Tambelo Crackers, Mamade Chips, as well as sago flour and sago rice. The presence of Amungme Coffee from the Intan Jaya Mountains is also interesting to try. This coffee shop in the Sarinah outdoor area serves coffee powder and packaged coffee beans from 100 grams to 250 grams at prices ranging from IDR 75 thousand to IDR 150 thousand. If visitors want to sip the coffee, there is also palm sugar milk coffee, Milk 68, cappuccino, coffee latte. For those who want to try culinary in the outdoor area, there are meat floss bread rolls, nastar sago, papeda and sago forna.
