04 March 2025

Gresik, March 1, 2025 – PT Freeport Indonesia (PTFI) and the Gresik Regency Government are collaborating to encourage Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Gresik Regency to continue growing and become more competitive.

"We greatly appreciate Freeport's contribution in supporting the Gresik MSME ecosystem. We should be grateful because this is a form of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) that exemplifies good corporate citizenship. Freeport has collaborated extensively with communities and academics through its CSR concept, from environmental development, human development, to business development, which is currently the main focus," said the Regional Secretary of Gresik Regency, Achmad Washil Miftahul Rahman, during the 9th Rembuk Akur meeting held at the Gresik Regent's Office on Thursday (02/27).

The support is realized through programs such as Gresik Prosperous Entrepreneurship Champions (Jawara), Strong Independent Village-Owned Enterprises (Bestari), and Women's Empowerment (Srikandi Preneur), which focus on capacity building for business owners, expanding market access, and digitalizing MSME marketing.

Washil also appreciated PTFI's consistency in supporting local MSMEs through well-planned CSR programs. According to him, this initiative aligns with the Gresik Regency Government's vision to encourage small business owners to level up and be able to compete not only at the village level but also at the regency and provincial levels.

"In Gresik, we have approximately 6,500 MSMEs, and we want this program to not only be sustained in the short term but also to run sustainably. From the government's side, we also have the Department of Cooperatives, Industry, and Trade (Diskoperindag) as well as the Investment and One-Stop Integrated Services Department (DPMPTSP) that are ready to provide support in terms of licensing, development, and business legality," he added.

Vice President of Business Process Smelting and Refining at PTFI, Aripin Buman, in his remarks, emphasized PTFI's commitment to supporting local economic growth through MSME development. With the synergy between government, industry, and academia, this program is expected to bring tangible impact for MSME owners in Gresik, particularly in the Manyar and Bungah Districts.

"We believe that collaboration is key. With support from various parties, MSMEs in Gresik can grow stronger and contribute more significantly to the regional economy," said Aripin.
