PTFI Supports the Accelerated Stunting Reduction Program

PT Freeport Indonesia (PTFI) is committed to support the efforts of the Central Papua Provincial Government to accelerate stunting reduction. On Monday (9/4), PTFI officially handed over 3,000 food packages including nutritional staple food assistance to the Central Papua Provincial Government. The symbolic handover was handed over by PTFI’s Director & EVP Sustainable Development, Claus Wamafma to the Acting Governor of Central Papua, Dr. Ribka Haluk at the Ballroom of the Horison Diana Hotel, Timika. Witnessed by Central Papua provincial government staff, and representatives from PTFI’s Government Relations Department and PTFI staff.

Representing PTFI management, Claus Wamafma explained, "PTFI has been actively collaborating with various related technical agencies in Central Papua. The handover of this aid is a continuation of previous activities with Indonesian Vice President Ma'ruf Amin. A total of 6,000 food packages assistance that has been handed over from PTFI to the government of Central Papua Province to support its efforts to reduce stunting". 

 

On this occasion, Claus also said that PTFI continues to coordinate with relevant stakeholders, to collect data and evaluate the best way to support this effort. "We are trying to get early information so that we can take preventive measures to keep the mother and fetus healthy until the birthing process," he said. Claus Wamafma also expressed his appreciation to the Central Papua provincial government for continuing to provide support for this joint program. 

 

The Acting Governor of Central Papua Province, Dr. Ribka Haluk, in her speech expressed her gratitude for all of PT Freeport Indonesia's commitment and support, both material and moral. "Stunting is a priority in the national programs, and the Central Papua provincial government together with related agencies have formed a Special Task Force (Satgasus) to handle this stunting problem. With the existence of a task force and cooperation with various parties, we hope that this matter will be resolved quickly." he said. (Hendrikus)
