According to Rudi Toba, since July 25, 2022 due to the pandemic and the building being hit by a tree, this basketball court has been closed for repairs. At the end of November 2022, as the Covid 19 pandemic ended, the Kuala Kencana sports center facilities had reopened. “We encouraged all Kuala Kencana residents to take advantage of this sports facility properly and to use it responsibly. Do not let this nice facility then be damaged.” he said.

Rudi Toba also explained that the management of the Kuala Kencana sports center is currently being managed by the Rimba Papua Hotel management, and currently there are still several facilities that are being repaired. He hopes that the management of Rimba Papua Hotel in the future will be able to provide the best service in carrying out the task of managing the Kuala Kencana sports center. According to him sport is a very important factor in human life. "If the company produces mine in the form of concentrate, here we mine humans, namely healthy humans. And healthy people will make the maximum contribution to the company.” he added.

Representing the management, Claus Wamafma conveyed his message, "I entrust this place (sport center) to be managed properly, so that it provides good benefits, and I hope that this place will not be deserted. Create positive and competitive events, so that they become an attraction and motivate residents to build a lifestyle that is good, healthy and achieves in the field of sports, especially the young people." he said.

"Lets have a basketball tournament, junior or high school level, in collaboration with schools in Timika, so that a new generation emerges, new players who will be able to make achievements in basketball. The purpose of holding a tournament is to enliven this field, and I hope that all of these facilities will produce athletes who are able to compete and play on the national and even international stage, explained Claus Wamafma.
