Indonesia’s 80th Independence Day Ceremony and Celebration in Six Operation Areas
Since it began operations in 1973, PT Freeport Indonesia (PTFI) has consistently held flag-raising ceremonies to commemorate Indonesia's Independence Day.
This year, the 80th Indonesian Independence Day ceremonies were held simultaneously at six work sites across three provinces: Central Papua (Tembagapura, Kuala Kencana, Nabire), East Java (PTFI Gresik Smelter and PT Smelting Gresik), and Jakarta. PTFI President Director Tony Wenas led the ceremony from the Tembagapura Football Field, with approximately 3,000 employees in attendance.

Following the flag-raising ceremony, 151 PTFI employees in the Tembagapura Highlands received Service Awards directly from PTFI President Director Tony Wenas. This award recognizes employees who have served for 25, 30, and 35 years.
A colossal dance by 500 employees from Papua, Gresik, and Jakarta followed. This dance represented the upstream to downstream journey of copper, from mining in Papua to refining in Gresik, symbolizing PTFI's contribution to the nation's progress.
