2024 PTFI National Safety Month: Calls for Reinforce the “Safety Starts with Me”

Changing behavior to reinforce safety cultures must be implemented among all employees, as PTFI Executive Vice President-Site Operations and Technical Mine Manager, Carl Tauran ordering at the 2024 National Safety Month (BK3N) opening at PT Freeport Indonesia.

A ceremony celebrating the start of 2024 National Safety Month was held on January 12 and was attended by representatives from PTFI employees, contractors and partner companies. This event was centered at SAG Mill #3, Mile Post 74 and simultaneously joined by all Freeporters in Grasberg, MP 68, Kuala Kencana, GCSP Office and Portsite area through online meeting and Freeport Broadcasting Channel.

In this occasion, Carl Tauran calls for the importance to taking the time to recognize the hazards and taking the appropriate steps to protect yourself, your fellow workers, family and friends by the motto “Safety starts with me”.

“Each of us have responsibilities to ensure safe and healthy workplace for your own wellbeing and that of your colleagues.” Carl said.

Lowlands: 2024 National Safety Month Opening Ceremony

Wisnu Hartomo, Manager, Concentrating who chairs this year’s national safety month committee emphasized that the BK3N is the right time to spreads the positive practices from the existing occupational health and safety initiatives to all our employees.

“The BK3N committee has and will continue to collaborate with all of our divisions and departments to carry out a series of K3 programs to all workforce." Wisnu added.

Concluding the opening ceremony, the BK3N committee conducted a field inspection. A team led by Rustiarso Rianto, SVP Operations Maintenance visited several areas at SAG #3 project, including SAG #3 concrete road area and Belt Conveyor #701 area. The field inspection is conducted in order to provide a sharing session to discuss how to resolve challenges and difficult topics that employees face in the workplace.

This year’s national safety month themed “Cultivate Occupational Health and Safety, Be Healthy and Safe at Work to Maintain Business Continuity” will go through March 9 and will include offline and online events and activities.
