One Heart on Victory Day: Eid al-Fitr Celebration at PTFI
After a full month of Ramadan fasting amidst the busyness and dynamics of work, the Eid celebration in Tembagapura and Kuala Kencana is a special moment to look forward to. In the workplace of PT Freeport Indonesia (PTFI), Eid is a moment of togetherness that strengthens the bonds of brotherhood.
Takbiran night was the start of a series of Eid celebrations at the Jobsite. In Tembagapura, the echoes of takbir reverberating from the Daarussa'adah Mosque accompanied the traveling takbir that used vehicles to tour the mining town. The piercing cold air and occasional rain did not dampen the spirit of the residents to celebrate a night full of blessings. Meanwhile, in Kuala Kencana, the atmosphere was no less festive with the traveling takbir attended by employees who live in the area, accompanied by the echoes of takbir reverberating from the Baiturrahim Mosque.
The following morning, the Eid celebration began with a solemn Eid prayer at the Tembagapura Football Field and Kuala Kencana Square, attended by hundreds of employees, contractors and privatization personnel. This spirit of togetherness was also felt by employees from various backgrounds, who volunteered to help in the various series of celebrations. After prayers, a lively halal bihalal moment at the Sporthall brought many people together in a warm atmosphere. Employees then proceeded to visit the homes of PTFI management as well as coworkers and families in Tembagapura, Kuala Kencana, and Timika.
Handshakes, hugs, apologies, and smiles etched on every face are evidence of the close-knit family in this work environment as one big family of PT Freeport Indonesia. Eid al-Fitr in Tembagapura and Kuala Kencana is not just a celebration, but also a reflection of the values of mutual respect and solidarity that continue to be maintained in the PT Freeport Indonesia work environment.
The same applies to PTFI's extended family in Gresik. For the first time, PT Freeport Indonesia's Babussalam Smelter Mosque held its Idul fitri prayer on March 31, 2024. This is a form of company support by providing worship facilities for PTFI employees and contractors on duty on Eid, around 250 workers who are on night shifts. Ustadz Abul Harits Ainun gave a tausyiah with the theme Important Messages from the Month of Ramadan, which reminded about the meaning of piety and blessings on the day of victory. The event was then closed with a meal together, adding to the warmth of togetherness at this special moment.
