Twenty Young Talents Selected in the 2025 Papua Football Academy Cari Bakat

After a fierce selection process in 17 cities across Papua gathering 2.186 excited 13-years-old, Papua Football Academy (PFA) has finally revealed its top 20 young talents.
The 2025 PFA Cari Bakat event held from May 10 to July 6, 2025, was filled with a spectrum of determination from aspiring young footballers eager to make their mark on the pitch.
Jan Jay Adii, Manager of Sport Management representing PT Freeport Indonesia (PTFI) management praised the achievement of the finalists. “Congratulations to the twenty participants who made it into PFA. You are the finest talents selected from thousands of participants across cities in Papua,” he stated. “This year, PFA made a breakthrough by recruiting players from Pegunungan province. A testament of PTFI’s commitment to a brighter future for football in Papua and Indonesia,” Jan jay added.
For PFA Academic Director, Wolfgang Pikal, this milestone is the result of hard work from all parties. “I’m please with this year’s selection results. The selection was rigorous at every stage. We’re grateful to have found 20 gifted young players, and I thank all Papuan football schools, coaches, and parents that have supported these young athletes and PFA,” he expressed.
PFA’s commitment to the development of the young generation through sports is one of the focuses of PTFI’s continuation social support. Where, the selected participants will undergo training programs, that covers international-standard technical training and formal education, as well as physical and nutritional development.
Coach Ardilles Rumbiak emphasizes that PFA’s development program goes far beyond honing football skills. “We don’t just train them to be good at the sport, we also shape their character, discipline, and leadership from an early age,” he explained. “Our goal is for them to grow into smart, resilient individuals ready to shine in the future,” he added.
With the hope of growing into proud talents through PFA’s intensive training program, these finalists are now set to embark on a long journey toward higher levels of competition – from Papua, for Indonesia.
