Dr. Dirk Y. P. Runtuboy, S.Pd., M.Kes, Vice Rector 1 of Cenderawasih University, expressed appreciation for PTFI’s support of the event. He emphasized that this competition is an important and strategic platform to build students’ competitive character, creativity, and love for mathematics, science, and information technology.

“The world is evolving rapidly, mastery of science and technology plays a crucial role in facing complex global challenges,” he said.

The 2025 KOMIKOM carried the theme “Explore Knowledge, Achieving Excellence.” This annual event tests high school students in Papua in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Computer Science. It aims to boost students’ interest and motivation in science, sharpen critical thinking skills, and foster collaboration among Papua’s youth.

The competition ran from July to October 2025 in two stages: a Computer-Based Test (CBT) preliminary round and an interactive knockout-style final round. In the final stage, the top 16 teams competed through various challenges such as science games, case studies, simple experiments, and applied mathematical calculations requiring logic, precision, and teamwork.
