Timika, August 11, 2025 - Independence is not just about remembering the struggles of Heroes, but about how we live it today. PT Freeport Indonesia's (PTFI) 80th Independence Day Celebration on Friday, August 8, 2025 - Sunday, August 9, 2025, in the Lowlands this year took place with a spirit that felt more alive. Festivities were celebrated from Amamapare Port, Portsite, to Kuala Kencana.
The Cultural Night Festival at Multi-Purpose, Saturday, August 9, 2025, Kuala Kencana is a cultural performance that proves that diversity is the strength of PTFI so that it can still operate today. "We are here today because we are different, because diversity is our strength" said Director, EVP Sustainable Development, Claus Wamafma in his opening remarks.
Participants from 13 PTFI divisions collaborated with the Kuala Kencana and Timika communities and guests to present a variety of Nusantara arts and culture. The event featured a variety of performances such as solo vocals, fashion shows, puppet shows, and an exhibition of woven batik fabrics that became a special attraction for the audience. One of the 200-year-old Toraja woven fabrics was also exhibited to symbolize the rich cultural heritage of the archipelago.
The atmosphere that night was very festive, supported by the cheers of the audience, the lights that highlighted the stage, as well as the creativity of each program displayed.
Chairman of the PTFI 80th Indonesian Independence Day Committee in the Lowlands, Erikson Daniel, said that in accordance with the slogan of the 80th Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia, "United Sovereignty, Prosperous People, Advanced Indonesia" is currently echoed in this festival, with the collaboration between PTFI internal and Paguyuban is an extraordinary thing because the spirit of Independence can be channeled to all residents in Kuala Kencana and Timika.
The Cultural Night Festival is one of the highlights of the 80th Indonesian Independence Day, which is integrated from upstream to downstream, from mining to smelting in Gresik. The spirit of independence was felt all the way to Amamapare Port at Portsite. Clean Action, and Blood Donation activities have been carried out on Friday, August 8, 2025. Participants who attended were representatives from each division operating at Portsite.
"This activity is not just a clean-up action, but also our realization as PTFI employees in protecting the environment, this is also proof of our dedication to our beloved country, the Republic of Indonesia," said Manager, Dewatering Plant, Portsite, Ida Bagus Ardana.
The Cultural Night Festival, clean-up action, and blood donation are not just ceremonial activities, but also symbols that independence is about togetherness, contribution, and pride in being part of Indonesia.
