Timika, September 18, 2024 – PT Freeport Indonesia (PTFI) officially signed a cooperation agreement with Mimika Regency Education Office to support the transportation and storage of building materials for education facilities in the Banti and Nayaro village areas. PTFI signs a cooperation agreement with Mimika Regency Education Office

Under this agreement, PTFI has a critical role in delivering building materials required for the projects planned by the Education Office. This collaboration includes the construction of two teacher’s housing units and one public toilet facility in Nayaro village, and one new Nursery/Kindergarten school building in Banti village, with plans to build this school in 2025.

This initiative is expected to improve the infrastructure and support educational services in this region.

Vice President of Community Relations, Engel Enoch, representing PTFI’s Management conveyed PTFI’s commitment support the government in the construction of educational support facilities, especially in villages in PTFI’s operational areas such as Banti and Nayaro village. 

“We continue to support the government’s efforts to focus on the education sector in these two villages. We hope that our support can ensure the construction of the teacher's housing and the school building can be constructed quickly and on time, so the benefits can be felt immediately by the community,” said Engel Enoch.

The Head of the Mimika Regency Education Office, Jeni O. Usmany, S.Pd.,M.Pd., also expressed her appreciation for PTFI’s contribution to this project. She emphasized, that this collaboration is meaningful in accelerating the construction of important facilities that will have a direct impact on the quality of educational services provided.

“We are grateful for the consistent support from PTFI, especially for the transportation of materials to the project site. The construction of the teachers housing and school building will help improve the educational services available to the people of Banti and Nayaro village,” said Jeni O. Usmany.

The construction of the two teachers housing units will be used by teachers in charge of teaching in this area, while the new Pre-K/Kindergarten school building is expected to foster interest in learning and increase children’s readiness to learn and pursue education. 

This project is expected to be completed within one year. The collaboration between PTFI and the Mimika Regency Education Office is expected to improve the quality of education in Mimika Regency.
