PTFI Mining Safety Division sent the best team consisting of 10 members and three observers to take part in this national level competition. This competition is a concrete step in strengthening PTFI's commitment to worker safety and operational safety, as well as increasing response in supporting evacuation rescue during emergency situations in the Mimika Regency area.

At the team  send-off event which was held on Friday (25/8) at the PTFI Fire Station in Kuala Kencana, Chris Zimmer EVP Technical Services representing PTFI management advised, “Comrades, you have to give 100 percent in every game. If you've done that, you'll come home with a trophy, with pride, and with respect. I am proud of you, because you have trained well, thought well and will fight well." he said.

The team that will take part in the competition departed from Timika for Banjarmasin on Tuesday (29/8) led by the Manager Team, Purnomo who has worked for 20 years at PTFI and has participated three times in IFRC competitions. When met at Mozes Kilangin Timika airport, moments before leaving for Banjarmasin, Purnomo explained, "The team members who were dispatched have experience in rescuing several incidents in the Timika area, such as a helicopter crash in June 2022 in the Timika forest area." he said. "The training and preparation process started in  from May to August 2023. From this competition I hope to hone the skills of the team members and provide additional experience to some members who have never participated in such competition before." Purnomo.

Since 1995, IFRC has become a regular competition event, and PTFI has been participating since it started. Every year, companies in the mining, oil and gas and energy sectors gather to compete and exchange information regarding the handling of work accidents. Mining companies participating in this competition include PT Kalimantan Prima Persada, PT Adaro Indonesia, PT Cipta Kridatama, PT Aneka Tambang Tbk, PT Berau Coal Energy Tbk, PT Freeport Indonesia and several other mining companies. The competition categories are Fire Fighting, Underwater Rescue, Road Accident, Confined Space Rescue, Skill Competition Test, Combat Challenge, High Angle Rescue. (Hendrikus)
