More than 5,000 PT Freeport Indonesia employees, family members and contractors will be home for the holidays as part of this year’s annual Christmas Flight program that provides transport to remote regions of Papua by plane, helicopter and boat.

“We are pleased to once again offer this program that illustrates the company’s commitment to the quality of life of its employees by helping Papuan employees from remote regions celebrate the holidays at home,” said Iyas Kusnadi, Vice President-Manpower Management.

The 2018 Christmas Flight program, which runs December 12 through January 2019, transports employees and their dependents to their respective hometowns and villages in 37 different Papuan destinations by plane, helicopter and boat.

“I am happy, this year once again my husband and I can return home and celebrate Christmas with our parents and families,” said Theresia, the wife of a PTFI employee using the program.

“We have been able to celebrate Christmas back home three times under this program, so we are thankful to the company for the assistance and hope the program will be continued next year.”

Carriers Trigana Air, Johnlin Air, Mission Aviation Fellowship and Airfast Indonesia fly passengers to regencies in the central highlands, while Airfast helicopters reach villages not accessible by plane, and boats transport passengers to hometowns on Papua’s southern coast.

“It’s our pleasure to provide our Papuan employees the opportunity to celebrate Christmas in their hometowns,” Kusnadi said. “We ask that they celebrate in a safe and sound manner, so they can return to Timika in good condition to resume their work with the company.” (Hendrikus)
