PTFI has made significant contributions to health progress and developing a sustainable public health system, particularly in programs such as Malaria Control, Clean Water Provision, Stunting Reduction, and Handling of Infectious Diseases in its operational areas in Mimika Regency and its surroundings. A sustainable healthcare system, as defined by the World Health Organization (WHO), aims to improve, maintain, or restore health while minimizing negative impacts on the environment and taking advantage of opportunities to enhance it for the benefit of current and future generations.
In 2023, from the total of USD 122 billion invested in the social sector, PTFI has made significant contributions to sustainable health development. This includes the provision of free medical services to the community through hospitals and clinics established and managed by PTFI. At the Community Partner Hospital (RSMM), patient visits have reached an annual total of 122,000. Additionally, clinics collaborating with PTFI have recorded a substantial number of patient visits, totaling 40,000 per year. In the realm of clean water projects, it is projected that, if the initiatives proceed as planned, approximately 52,220 families, or around 212,760 individuals, will benefit directly from these projects by 2026. Furthermore, in the Malaria control program, 19,824 homes have received Indoor Residual Spraying (IRS) services to mitigate the spread of malaria. This comprehensive approach underscores PTFI’s commitment to enhancing public health and well-being through targeted and sustainable interventions.
