Here are ten interesting facts about PT Freeport Indonesia’s Christmas Flight and Boat Program:
- Not only airplanes, PTFI provides helicopters and boats to take employees and their families to their respective hometowns.
- In 2024, the program successfully transported 3,067 passengers home:
- 2,442 people by airplane
- 554 people by helicopter (reaching mountain villages)
- 71 people by boat to Agimuga and Potowaiburu - In 2025, a total of 1,770 employees and family members have registered to return home between December 10–23.
- Ticket prices are very affordable. The program is designed so employees can travel home at a very low cost, even with fuel subsidies for boats.
- All schedules are adjusted to Papua’s natural conditions, prioritizing safety by adapting to weather, terrain, and environmental conditions at each destination.
- Wide coverage area, serving trips to various regions such as Enarotali, Waghete, Duma, Moanemani, Agimuga, Timika Pantai, and Potowaiburu.
- The Christmas Flight and Boat Program began in 2000. Some employees have participated for more than 15 years, making this program a Christmas tradition.
- Generation to generation: “This program has become an important part of many families’ lives. Some joined as children and now return as employees with their own kids.”
- A tangible proof of PTFI’s care for all employees and their families to improve employee well-being.
- The program also includes assistance in delivering basic food supplies by helicopter to villages around PTFI’s work area. This year, PTFI facilitated the delivery of more than 90 tons of food supplies.
