PTFI Smelter Environment and Sustainable Development Manager Emily Muteb expressed her appreciation for the involvement of various parties in supporting this program.

"Freeport Indonesia supports the empowerment of MSMEs through the JAWARA Program. This program is expected to increase the capacity of MSMEs so that they can grow economically. We also hope that all stakeholders will continue to provide support and collaboration so that the impact of this program can be felt more widely by the community," said Emily.

The JAWARA Program is a strategic initiative from PTFI designed to increase the capacity of MSMEs, especially those in the areas around the company's operations. Through a comprehensive and local needs-based approach, this program aims to strengthen the foundations of MSMEs' businesses so that they can grow sustainably and have high competitiveness amidst the ever-evolving market dynamics.

In its implementation, PTFI collaborates with Krealogi, a company engaged in community empowerment through entrepreneurship programs. This program focuses on strengthening supply chain knowledge, mentoring in the preparation of Standar Operating Procedure (SOP)s and product pricing, increasing operational efficiency, and developing product innovations based on village potential. This program also includes business management module training, business consulting, mentoring, and transaction trials - all designed to increase the capacity of MSME actors.

Two Waves of Training: Multi-Party Synergy

The implementation of the JAWARA Program is divided into two waves. The first wave was held on May 7-16, 2025 at the Manyarejo Village Hall, with participants from four villages: Manyar Sidorukun, Manyar Sidomukti, Manyarejo, and Banyuwangi. This activity was welcomed positively by stakeholders and was officially opened by the Manager of Environment and Sustainable Development of the PTFI Smelter, Emily Muteb together with the Head of the Cooperatives and Micro Enterprises Division of Gresik Regency, Fransiska Dyah Ayu Puspitasari, Head of Information and Manpower Data of the Gresik Manpower Office, Agustia Partiwi, and the Head of Manyar Sidomukti Village, Ach Chasin and the Head of Banyuwangi Village, Siti Maslahah.

Head of Information and Employment Data Division of Gresik Manpower Office, Agustia Partiwi, said “MSMEs in Gresik continue to grow, but still face obstacles such as access to capital and marketing. Assistance like this is very much needed and has a direct impact on regional economic growth and the creation of new jobs.”

Continuing the enthusiasm of the first wave, the second wave was held on May 21 - June 4, 2025 at Qomaruddin University, Bungah, Gresik. This time it involved MSME actors from five villages: Karangrejo, Watuagung, Tanjung Widoro, Kramat, and Bedanten Villages. The opening of the second wave was also attended by the Acting. Rector of Qomaruddin University, Drs. H. Moh. Maghfur, M.Pd., Head of the Bungah District Economy Section, Nur Istiqomah, SE, MM, and representatives of Bedanten Village and Karangrejo Village.

Collaboration for Resilient and Innovative MSMEs

With synergy between the private sector, local governments, educational institutions, and village communities, the JAWARA Program is a real step in encouraging the transformation of MSMEs that are not only managerially resilient, but also adaptive to market changes and able to create sustainable local innovations.

This collaboration is part of PTFI's long-term commitment to supporting village economic empowerment and expanding decent livelihood opportunities through MSMEs. Through the JAWARA program, it is hoped that participants can increase their capacity in entrepreneurship and product innovation, thereby encouraging sustainable economic independence.
